Q: What sets Avalon apart?
A: When you register at Avalon, you get a partner through every step of your massage journey. We have friendly teaching assistants that will help if you fall behind in class or need some extra help. Don’t worry about finding your own clients during internship; we’ll book those for you (other schools require for you to find your own clients). Internship is also done in private rooms as opposed to a classroom setting. During Internship, we also provide our students with a free MBLEx review class, to review all the material to better help you pass the test. We will help you find jobs, teach you how to start your own business, and you can use our facilities to book your own clients.
Q: What if I don't want to do the licensed program?
A: No problem! We offer individual classes that are ideal for casual learners, see class options.
Q: How do I enroll?
A: To enroll, we just need a $200 deposit (ask about our Early Bird Special). Your first full payment is not due until after the first week of classes. At that time, you may select a payment plan.
Q: What can I expect during my clinic internship?
A: After completing 450 hours of academics, students will complete the remaining 50 hours required for licensure working in our clinic. Students will prepare for their career in massage therapy by working on Avalon's clients in a safe, supervised environment.  Like most spas, our treatment rooms feature hydraulic tables, table warmers and customizable lighting, music & temperature. The school provides extra bolsters, prenatal pillows &  hydrocollator packs for student use. Students may incorporate additional techniques for which they have been certified such as cupping, aromatherapy, or hot stones.  Avalon's clinic has the highest Google rating in Houston for student massages!
Q: Does Avalon offer online classes?
A: Full accreditation and CEU classes are not available online.  However a few of the theory courses included in the licensing program meet online via Zoom, such as Anatomy & Physiology.
Q: How does Avalon help with job placement?
A: Our career services director mentors our students throughout the program to ensure that their goals for their future career are being met. Every student will attend a Job Fair where national franchises and businesses from the Greater Houston Area will introduce themselves and recruit future employees.  Alumni are welcome to join this networking opportunity (offered three times a year) at any point in their career.  Avalon students and alumni will be given access to a Discord channel, where job postings and networking opportunities are regularly updated. Additionally, all alumni can contact Avalon for help with job placement after licensure. We value your continued success.
Q: How does Avalon handle COVID?
A: For the safety of our students and staff, all students and staff are required to get a COVID test before the start of each module. All theory classes are held online. For hands-on classes, masks are optional, and strict sanitation procedures are followed before and after each massage.
